At Hearing Assist, we recognize and value the importance of hearing health to overall wellbeing. Hearing loss can be debilitating, impacting everyone from the person suffering from hearing loss to their family, friends, and others with whom there is contact throughout the day. Often, hearing aids are the answer, but they are simply too expensive for many to afford; the only choice is to go without and we simply cannot accept that as an option. Since 2008, we have taken great pride in our effort to eliminate the ridiculously high cost of hearing aids as a factor so that more people who need hearing aids have access to them. Hearing aids from an audiologist tend to be costlier because the audiologist’s services, which can comprise 40%-70% of the total cost and may not always be required, are typically bundled into the cost, according to a 2016 article in the American Journal of Medicine (129, 245-250, March 2016). While the audiologist’s role is important, you do have a choice when it comes to making a purchasing decision and we hope that you’ll choose us. Hearing Assist is FDA registered and our hearing aids are Class 1 Hearing Aid devices under FDA Regulations per 21 C.F.R. Sec 874.3300. We sell our quality hearing aids for less because we leverage mass national marketing, mass manufacturing, mass distribution, and excellent customer service to streamline the hearing aid business and make it more efficient. We know you’ll be happy with your new hearing aids from Hearing Assist but if we’re wrong, contact us within 60 days of delivery and we’ll give your money back. With Hearing Assist, you have nothing to lose but everything to hear!

According to the National Institute on Deafness and other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) two hearing aids are generally recommended because two aids provide a more natural signal to the brain. Hearing in both ears also will help you understand speech and locate where the sound is coming from. Additional benefits of wearing two hearing aids include:
  • Smoother tone quality. Wearing two hearing aids generally requires less volume than one. The need for less volume results in less distortion and better reproduction of amplified sounds.
  • Wider hearing range. A person can hear sounds from a further distance with two ears, rather than just one. A voice that's barely heard at 10 feet with one ear can be heard up to 40 feet with two ears.
  • Better sound identification. Often, with just one hearing aid, many noises and words sound alike. But with two hearing aids, as with two ears, sounds are more easily distinguishable.
  • Keeps both ears active resulting in potentially less hearing loss deterioration. Research has shown that when only one hearing aid is worn, the unaided ear tends to lose its ability to hear and understand. This is clinically called the auditory deprivation effect. Wearing two hearing aids keeps both ears active.
  • Hearing is less tiring and listening more pleasant. More binaural hearing aid wearers report that listening and participating in conversation is more enjoyable with two instruments, instead of just one. This is because they do not have to strain to hear with the better ear. Thus, binaural hearing can help make life more relaxing.
  • Feeling of balanced hearing. Two-eared hearing results in a feeling of balanced reception of sound, also known as the stereo effect, whereas monaural hearing creates an unusual feeling of sounds being heard in one ear.
  • Greater comfort when loud noises occur. A lower volume control setting is required with two hearing aids than is required with one hearing aid. The result is a better tolerance of loud sounds.
  • Reduced feedback and whistling. With a lower volume control setting the chances of hearing aid feedback is reduced.
  • Tinnitus Masking. About 50% of people with ringing in their ears report improvement when wearing hearing aids. If a person with tinnitus wears a hearing aid in only one ear, there will still be ringing in the ear that does not have a hearing aid.
  • Consumer preference. An overwhelming majority of consumers who have hearing loss in both ears, choose two hearing aids over one, when given the choice to hear binaurally.
  • Customer satisfaction. Research with more than 5,000 consumers with hearing loss in both ears demonstrated that binaurally fit subjects are more satisfied than people fit with one hearing aid.
  • Logically, just as you use both eyes to see clearly, you need two healthy ears to hear clearly. Before you decide on one hearing aid, try two. Our hearing aids are designed for mild to moderate hearing loss. If you have any questions or concerns, we recommend that you discuss your specific needs with your physician.

Hearing Assist has been in business since 2008. Since then, we’ve proudly sold hundreds of thousands of affordable hearing aids direct to consumers.
Like a new pair of eyeglasses, it does take time to adjust to wearing a hearing aid. That’s why we give you 60 days to get acclimated and really put your hearing aid through its paces. We suggest that you start with the medium sized ear cap. If the fit is too loose, switch to the larger size. If the fit is too tight, use a smaller size. If you experience any discomfort, we recommend that you start out wearing the hearing aid only for an hour or two on the first day. Each day, increase the length of time you wear your hearing aid by one hour until you are able to wear it for a full day. During this break in period, consider removing the hearing aid during the day when it is not needed to give your ear a break.
Comfort is subjective; what is comfortable to one person may not be comfortable for another. While our hearing aids are designed to be discreet and comfortable for most, the truth is that you won’t know until you try. That is why we give you a 60-day trial period and money back guarantee. We understand that a hearing aid is a personal choice. At Hearing Assist, we want you to be comfortable with your hearing aids so that you’ll wear them and get the most benefit; we also want you to be happy that you chose us for your hearing enhancement needs.
Exposure to a small amount of moisture such as sweat should not harm your hearing aid. As part of your routine hearing aid maintenance, it is recommended that you regularly put your hearing aids into a dry box to absorb moisture. Hearing aid dryer/dehumidifiers can be purchased at local pharmacy or other retail outlets. Our optional Peace of Mind Plan, which covers defect or damage due to moisture, normal wear and tear, accidents, etc., can be added at checkout.
You can recharge your ReCharge! hearing aid between 500 and 1,000 times, depending on personal use and care habits and frequency of charging, before the battery will need to be replaced.
When your ReCharge! hearing aid does not consistently hold a charge for at least 16 hours before needing to be recharged, the battery is showing signs of diminished capacity. Call our Customer Care Center at 800.700.4327 for assistance.
No. Our hearing aids are designed for those at least 18 years of age with mild to moderate hearing loss. If you have any concerns or suffer from any of the following, we recommend that you consult with a licensed physician prior to ordering:
  • Visible deformity of the ear
  • Fluid or drainage from the ear during the last 90 days
  • Sudden, rapidly progressing, or fluctuating hearing loss
  • Spells of acute or chronic dizziness
  • Hearing loss only on one side that has worsened during the last 90 days
  • Ear canal blockage, a lasting ear infection, or a plugged up fullness feeling
  • Excessive wax buildup or a history of excessive wax buildup
  • Pain or discomfort in the ear
  • Ringing in one or both ears within the last 90 days
“Mild” is the most common and under-diagnosed degree of hearing loss and means that you have trouble hearing sounds below 40 decibels - sounds such as a whisper or soft speech, rustling leaves, bird calls, soft music, a babbling brook, or a pin dropping for example. Mild hearing loss could also mean difficulty hearing some conversations in noisier environments, at a distance, in larger group settings or over the phone. Trouble with certain words (typically with consonant sounds like “s,” “f,” or “th”), missing very high pitched sounds, or needing to work harder to follow the conversation when a woman or child is talking are also indicators of mild hearing loss. If hearing loss is related to noise exposure and aging, people tend to lose their ability to hear higher frequency (pitch) sounds first - like consonants in speech, which are higher pitched and softer in volume than vowels. If, in addition to sounds below 40 decibels, you also have trouble hearing sounds such as a refrigerator running, background music, conversation in quieter settings such as at home or in an office, an electric toothbrush, or a sewing machine, then hearing loss may be moderate. People with moderate hearing loss have trouble hearing sounds below 40 decibels, but also many sounds in the 41 to 60 decibels range (normal conversational speech averages between 50 and 65 decibels).
Hearing aids amplify all sounds, including speech as well as background noises; they do not completely separate the sounds you want to hear from the ones you do not want to hear. Our ReCharge! hearing aids do feature background noise reduction technology but if background noise is an issue, try switching to a different pre-programmed setting and/or adjust the volume to a more comfortable level. If the background noise is still too loud, we suggest that you refrain from using this product in noisy areas or conditions where it is not comfortable for you to do so.
  • Discomfort. If your hearing aid feels slightly uncomfortable at first, try the following:
    • Wear it for one or two hours on the first day; add one hour each day until you are able to wear it comfortably for a full day.
    • It is recommended that you start with the medium sized ear cap. If the fit is too loose, switch to the larger size. If it is too tight, use smaller size.
  • The occlusion effect. The "plugged-up" sensation that causes a hearing aid user's voice to sound louder inside the head is very common for new hearing aid users. Most individuals get used to this effect over time.
  • Some people who wear hearing aids experience problems with the radio frequency interference caused by digital cell phones.
Due to the radio frequency interference caused by digital cell phones, you may not be able to use any hearing aid with a mobile phone. While you're wearing your hearing aid, if you experience buzzing or other noises when also using your cell phone, first try rotating the phone earpiece away from your ear slightly and/or lowering the volume on both the cell phone and your hearing aid to see if the sound quality improves. If the noises persist, we recommend that you refrain from using your hearing aid with a mobile phone or other devices that emit radio waves.
Whistling is common in hearing aids and is also known as 'feedback'. This phenomenon is caused by amplified sound leaving the ear, being received back into the microphone and being re-amplified. The following tips will help reduce the effect of whistling/feedback noise:
  1. Lower the volume. Keep volume at a lower setting before inserting the hearing aid in your ear.
  2. Secure the positioning of the cap or dome within the ear. Feedback/whistling noise will stop when the hearing aid is securely fitted/sealed in the ear with the best fitting dome size.
  3. Clean the ear dome, cap and/or tube. Try removing and cleaning the hearing aid with the cleaning brush.
  4. Clear the ear canal of wax or debris. Seek guidance from your physician for excessive wax built-up.
  5. Replace the ear cap, dome or tube. Change to a new dome with a better fitting size. If the cap is torn or broken, replace it.
  • Keep debris free of the opening in the ear cap and tube (if applicable) by cleaning the hearing aid with a cleaning brush after each use.
  • Keep your hearing aid away from heat and moisture, direct sunlight, humidity and dust.
  • Do not wear your hearing aid while sleeping, participating in vigorous exercise or other physical activity, showering/bathing, washing your hair, swimming, or engaging in any other activity during which the hearing aid may get wet.
  • Avoid using hairspray or other hair care products while wearing your hearing aid.
  • Keep your hearing aid out of reach of infants, children and pets.
  • Never attempt to open or disassemble your hearing aid yourself, there are no user serviceable parts inside. Opening or disassembling your hearing aid, or attempting to do so, will void your warranty.
You will hear an audible warning when the battery power is low and the hearing aid needs to be recharged.
